About

The idea and concept that the land assists to identify man’s existence in their place in the world is of great interest to me, whereby not only do we shape the land we inhabit but it also shapes us.

It is with this sense of place, this experience of living with the landforms and the environment that I feel compelled to convey my feelings towards these phenomena through the medium of paint.

My work is increasingly of an abstract nature, where I paint intuitively from memory, the shapes and colours that I see within my surroundings.

I allow the paint to form patterns and texture that speak to me in a similar vein to that of the landscape and my surroundings. The movement of the paint, ie the use of brushwork, palette knife or pouring method emphasises the feelings I have towards my sensation of place.
